Richardson Gets Second SEC Nod

For the second time this season, Alabama freshman tailback Trent Richardson has been selected the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for his performance in Alabama's 35-7 win over Arkansas Saturday. Richardson scored the first touchdown of that game.

Trent Richardson, a 5-11, 220-pound running back, broke four tackles and outran two other defenders on a 52-yard touchdown run. Although some reports said the tackles were "missed," which technically they were, the credit goes to the hard-running Richardson who had Arkansas defenders bouncing on off.

Richardson, a native of Pensacola, Fla., where he played at Escambia High School, led the Tide in rushing with 65 yards on nine carries.

He also added two catches for 16 yards and participated on the kickoff coverage team.

Richardson is now second on the team in rushing with 280 yards on 38 attempts and is tied for the team lead with four rushing touchdowns.

Richardson was also SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance against Florida International in the second week of the season.

Alabama cornerback and kick return man Javier Arenas was among those cited for outstanding performances in the SEC last week.

Arenas had five tackles (four solo) with three for losses, including two sacks. He also had four punt returns for 59 yards.
