Former player added to Tide staff

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- University of Alabama head football coach Mike Price dipped into the high school ranks to hire former Alabama player Tim Bowens as Bama's Director of High School Relations.

"Tim played his college football at Alabama and bleeds crimson and white," Mike Price said. "He is truly one of the rising stars and has an outstanding future in collegiate athletics. We certainly look forward to having him join us."

"It is exciting to be able to return to Alabama," Bowens offered, "and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. It is not often that one is able to return to their college home, so I relish this opportunity."

Bowens, a four-year letterman at Alabama from 1996-99, comes to the Tide after leading Tanner High School to a 7-4 record this past season. Bowens was selected as The Decatur Daily's 1A-3A Coach of the Year for his efforts.

While at Alabama, Bowens played in 46 career games as a receiver, finishing with 24 receptions for 324 yards. He had a career-long 54-yarder against LSU in 1999. His senior season, Tim was a seven-game starter.

Bowens' half brother, Freddie Roach, started at middle linebacker last year for Alabama. And their youngest brother, Will Roach, has committed to sign with Alabama this year.
