Tide Gymnastics Third In Nation

One feature of Alabama gymnastics under Coach Sarah Patterson has always been that the Crimson Tide is going to have a competitive schedule. In Patterson's view, that helps Bama to be ready when championship season rolls around.

The Alabama gymnastics team is ranked third in the nation this week after beating defending NCAA Champion Georgia last Friday night.

The Crimson Tide is ranked second on the balance beam, third on the vault, ninth on the floor exercise and 10th on the uneven bars.

Senior Morgan Dennis and sophomore Ashley Priess are tied for eighth place in the all-around. Dennis is also eighth on the vault while sophomore Geralen Stack-Eaton is 17th. Senior Kassi Price is sixth and Priess is 12th on the uneven bars this week. Priess is also sixth on the balance beam and Dennis is 18th on the floor exercise.

UCLA holds down the top spot in the rankings, which are determined by season average at this point, while Oklahoma is No. 2. Florida is fourth this week, followed by Oregon State and Utah at fifth and sixth respectively. Alabama's next opponent, the Arkansas Razorbacks, checks in at No. 7 while Stanford, Nebraska and Georgia round out the top-10.

Alabama returns to Coleman Coliseum Friday to face 2009 NCAA Super Six Team Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. CST. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum or online at RollTide.com.
