Bama Baseball Sets Fan Day
"The Alabama Baseball Fan Day is the highlight of the preseason and is the signal that the college baseball season is just around the corner," first-year head coach Mitch Gaspard said. "This is a great day for the players, coaches and fans to get together and share in the Alabama baseball experience. The Grand Slammers barbecue is a long-standing tradition and something that we really look forward too. We certainly appreciate all the support we get from our fans and especially the Grand Slammers."
The day begins with a free kid's clinic at Sewell-Thomas Stadium from 9-11 a.m. The clinic is open to everyone through the sixth grade. The clinic will include hitting, pitching, fielding and base running instruction from the Crimson Tide coaching staff and players.
The 27th annual Grand Slammers preseason barbecue will be held in the Coleman Coliseum CAVE from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under). Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Coach Gaspard will give a scouting report on the 2010 team and the Crimson Tide players will be available for autographs. There will also be door prizes, schedule cards, schedule posters, as well as Alabama Grand Slammers merchandise for sale.
The Alabama Grand Slammers are now accepting 2010 membership renewals and membership applications. A membership is $100 and includes two complimentary tickets to the barbecue. For more information on the Grand Slammers, please contact Ron Hughston at firstname.lastname@example.org or 205.792.2116.
Following the barbecue, the Alabama baseball team will hold a nine-inning scrimmage at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The scrimmage is tentatively set for 2 p.m. and is free to the public.
