Why Alabama: "It's Alabama. They are one of the top programs in the nation. It wasn't going to get any better than Alabama. I like how they play football. They are the biggest team in Alabama. They don't have a pro team. It's all about the Crimson Tide."
Strengths/Improvement: "I'm really good at running routes. I'm effective with double moves. I give good head fakes, and I can set up defenders really well. Deep comebacks are my best routes. My second best route is the deep out. I think that I'm a wide receiver in college. I really don't see myself lining up inside (slot). I don't see myself as a smaller receiver. I definitely have the ability to play outside (wide receiver)."
Coach Quotes (Head Coach Sheddrick Risper): "Ronnie's a fast, shifty receiver, who runs great routes and has good hands. He's been a work horse for us. He's really learned a lot as far as understanding the game and as a senior took more of a leadership role on the team.
"We used him at 'Z' receiver, at flanker and at slot to get him in the open field and take advantage of his 4.4 speed. He's amazing after the catch. Most of his yards came after the catch. Ronnie's very consistent catching the football. He doesn't make many drops.
"Alabama made Ronnie feel at home when he was there. Coach Saban and his staff showed interest in Ronnie's future beyond football, and I think that's what stuck with him the most."
Andrew Bone says: "Carswell didn't draw a lot of attention during the spring. Alabama was one of the first schools to see him in action and offered a scholarship. He committed to the Tide before any other schools got involved with his recruitment. Carswell played in a run-oriented offense, but still put up big numbers. He is a great route runner and is very good at creating separation with defensive backs."
