Why Alabama: "I felt comfortable with Alabama in every way. They have a great program, and I look foward to getting there. I felt at home from the first time I visited Alabama. It's a great family atmosphere."
Strengths/Improvements: "I have a 'no quit' mentality. I am never going to give up. I need to work on becoming more of a traditional tight end. I have been more of a receiving tight end. I am able to spread the field."
Coach Quotes (Head Coach Blair Harrison): "Brian's played for us for three years and has started the last two at tight end. He also played a little defensive end, outside linebacker for us too. There's a tremendous upside to Brian's talent. I've enjoyed coaching him, but I think his best football days are ahead of him.
"He did a good job being an offensive threat as a receiver and an excellent job blocking. The first thing is his size. Excellent height, long arms, and good hands. The next thing is his mind. You see a lot of players out there who see something happen the other team does and not make an adjust. Brian picks those things up right away. I'd say he's probably a receiving tight end, but he does block well, getting out there quickly on running plays to pick up a man.
"He'll probably need to add a few pounds to his frame to be at his most effective as a blocker in college. Coach Saban and Coach Smart did a good job recruiting Brian in telling him what he could do at Alabama. In the end, it was a family decision. I had nothing to do with it.
"Brian's just a pleasure to be around as a person. He doesn't get into trouble, or come to school or practice late. He does everything we ask of him. Throughout all this, with all of the awards and recognition he's received, he's remained humble. He's an amazing kid."
Andrew Bone says: "Vogler is a very athletic prospect who is a huge target. He can make tough catches and still getting used to his big body. He has good balance and can create mis-matches against a lot of linebackers."
Richard Stover contributed to this report.
"His best days are ahead of him."
