Academic Honors For Tide Swimmers

The Alabama men's swimming and diving team is the top ranked Southeastern Conference team in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America's Fall Scholar All-American list while the Crimson Tide women are ranked second in the league.

"We're very proud of our standing in the academic world," Alabama Coach Eric McIlquham said. "At Alabama we are dedicated to excellence in all aspects of the college experience, especially in the classroom and I think this is a great indicator of that."

Alabama's men are ranked 12th in the nation with a team grade point average of 3.20 while the women are 22nd with a 3.38 GPA.  The CSCAA will rank teams again after the spring semester and will add individual athlete rankings at that time.

The Tide finished up the 2009-10 regular season last weekend in Athens, Ga. against Georgia and South Carolina. Alabama will return to Athens later this month for the Southeastern Conference Championships, the first leg of the post season.
