No. 1 Tide Heads To No. 2 Oklahoma
"We have met some of the best teams in the country within the Southeastern Conference," Alabama Coach Sarah Patterson said of this weekend's meet. "Now we step out of the conference and we face a team that has been ranked first or second all season long. It will be a benchmark for us to see where we are."
While the Tide and Sooners traded places this week, the rest of the top five remains the same with UCLA at No. 3 followed by Florida and Georgia. Two other Southeastern Conference teams are in the top 10, with Arkansas at No. 8 and LSU at No. 10, while Kentucky and Auburn come in at 15th and 16th, respectively.
Alabama jumped back to No. 1 on the strength of a 197.225 at Kentucky, the second highest road score in the nation this year and Tide's fourth 197-plus score of the season, the most of any team this year. Alabama is also the nation's No. 1 ranked team on the vault after posting the nation's highest team total, 49.650, last Friday at Kentucky. It marked the fourth-highest score in school history.
Alabama is tied for No. 1 on the balance beam with Oklahoma and is second on the floor exercise and seventh on the uneven bars..
Senior Morgan Dennis jumped from fifth to third this week in the all-around, while sophomore Ashley Priess is fourth. Dennis is also second on the floor exercise, fifth on the vault and 13th on the balance beam. Priess is sixth on the balance beam and uneven bars as well as 16th on the floor exercise. Sophomore Geralen Stack-Eaton is 12th on the vault, 16th on the uneven bars and 24th on the balance beam. Senior Ricki Lebegern is 14th and junior Kayla Hoffman is 21st on the vault.
Alabama has just two dual meets left this season - at No. 2 Oklahoma on Friday and home March 19 against No. 12 Michigan on UA's Senior Night. Tickets for the UA-Michigan meet are on sale at the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or online at RollTide.com.
