McElwain Speaks At Mobile L'Arche

One of the great sports events in Alabama each spring is the L'Arche Football Preview in Mobile. Among this years speakers will be Alabama's offensive coordinator and the color man on Crimson Tide radio broadcasts.

What is officially known as the Wade Office Equipment 16th annual L'Arche Football Preview will be Thursday, May 27, at the Mitchell Center on the campus of South Alabama.

Frequently the event includes an address from the Alabama head coach, and Nick Saban has been on the program in the past. This year Alabama will be represented by Offensive Coordinator Jim McElwain. Auburn Coach Gene Chizik and South Alabama Coach Joey Jones will speak, as will Phil Savage, a former NFL general manager who is now the color man on Bama football radio broadcasts.

Other featured speakers include Mobile Press Register Sports Editor Randy Kennedy, Ivan Maisel of ESPN, and Devon Walsh of WKRG.

Doors open for sponsors at 5:30 pm and the general public at 6 pm. The evening will include a silent auction, dinner, and the speakers.

L'Arche will also honor two local coaches: Scott Lesley with the Lefty Anderson Service Through Coaching Award and Robert Shaw with the L'Arche Mobile Lifetime Achievement Award.

Single tickets are $45, a table of eight $360, and sponsor tables from $1,000 to $5,.000.

L'Arche Mobile is a Christian community where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together.
