Alabama Softball Sweeps Tennessee

The Alabama softball team kept its Southeastern Conference title hopes alive with a doubleheader sweep over Tennessee Saturday on ESPN. The Crimson Tide secured a 4-2 win in game one and then held on for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.

With the pair of victories Alabama has won 18-straight and improves to 42-9 overall and 20-4 in SEC play.

Whitney Larsen and Jazlyn Lunceford went deep to lead the Tide to a game one victory and Cassie Reilly-Boccia, Courtney Conley and Kendall Dawson left the yard in game two to power Alabama to the sweep.

Dawson paced the Tide with three hits on the day while hurlers Kelsi Dunne and Charlotte Morgan earned the wins in the circle. Dunne struck out 12 in her start and allowed one earned run while Morgan allowed two earned runs and fanned two.

The two teams will wrap up the series at 3 p.m. CDT Sunday with telecast by ESPNU.
