Tide Women's Golf Has All-Americas
Camilla Lennarth was selected to the second team, Jennifer Kirby was named to the third team and Brooke Pancake earned honorable mention accolades. It is the second time for Lennarth to earn All-America honors and the first for both Kirby and Pancake.
Kirby and Pancake become the ninth and 10th players in Alabama women's golf history to earn All-America honors while Lennarth is the fifth Alabama player to become a two-time All-American.
Lennarth, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, set Alabama's single-season scoring-average mark of 72.59 in 2009-10 and finished tied for 13th at the NCAA Championships. The two-time first-team All-SEC choice had eight top-15 finishes this year with 11 rounds under par and five rounds in the 60s. Lennarth was also named a second-team All-American by the NGCA and chosen to the NGCA All-West Region team.
Kirby, a true freshman from Paris, Ontario, Canada, was a third-team pick by Golfweek after earning honorable mention All-America accolades by the NGCA after a record-setting season at the Capstone. She is the first freshman at Alabama to earn All-America honors. Kirby broke the freshman scoring record at Alabama, eclipsing Pancake's 2008-09 mark of 74.06 by a full stroke, finishing with a 73.06 stroke average.
Pancake, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., finished tied for 12th at the NCAA Championships with a 1-under-par total of 287. She averaged 73.56 strokes per round and had with three top-10 finishes, including a tie for fifth at the SEC Championships as she helped the Tide secure its first conference title.
Head coach Mic Potter guided the 2009-10 Crimson Tide women's golf team to the best season in the program's history. Alabama won its first SEC Championships, finished third at the NCAA Championships, had three All-Americans, two first-team All-SEC selections, captured two tournament titles and set school records for team season scoring average (293.63), single-round scoring (278), 54-hole scoring record (848) and 72-hole scoring record (1,157).
