Tide Golfer Ties For Tourney Lead

SHOAL CREEK -- University of Alabama men's golfer Bud Cauley is tied for first after day three of the 104th Southern Amateur Championship being played at Shoal Creek Country Club this week. The Crimson Tide All-America shot a 68 on Friday to pull into first place.



The Jacksonville, Fla., native is in a three-way tie with Blayne Barber of Lake City, Fla., and Patrick Cantlay of Los Alamitos, Calif. after Thursday's round. All three golfers are 11-under par heading into the final day.

Cauley, who will be a junior at Alabama, started the championship with a 73, followed by a 64 in the second round, the low score of the tournament so far. Cauley,

Barber and Cantlay are scheduled to tee off at 9:10 a.m. Saturday in the championship's final round.
