Alabama's Morgan Plays In Fenway
Morgan has had an outstanding summer for the Harwich Mariners and will pitch for the Eastern Division All-Stars in next week's midsummer classic. In four games this summer, he has compiled a 1-0 record and sparkling 1.44 ERA. He has worked 25 innings and allowed four earned runs on 18 hits with 21 strikeouts and five walks.
"I am extremely happy for Adam and what he has been able to accomplish this summer," Alabama Coach Mitch Gaspard said. "He has put up some excellent numbers in one of the most prestigious summer collegiate leagues in the country. He has had an all-star type summer and I am very proud that he is representing The University of Alabama next week at Fenway Park."
Morgan is one of 10 Southeastern Conference players named to the 2010 Cape Cod League All-Star team. He will be joined on the Eastern Division roster by Tyler Hanover (LSU), Braden Kapteyn (Kentucky), Levi Mitchell (LSU), Matty Ott (LSU) and Aaron Westlake (Vanderbilt). Tony Caldwell (Auburn), Grayson Garvin (Vanderbilt), Casey McElroy (Auburn) and Chad Wright (Kentucky) will play for the Western Division team.
In his two-year career at Alabama, Morgan has compiled an 11-7 record and 5.39 ERA in 31 career games, including 27 starts. He has worked 148 2/3 innings and allowed 103 runs (89 ER) on 177 hits with 116 strikeouts and 52 walks. He was 7-5 as a sophomore this season with complete game victories against Auburn and Georgia Tech.
