Here We Go Again On Friday Nights

Through the years, the Friday Night Lights high school football column has been the first media outlet to tell you a bout several future Alabama players, before they hit the limelight. Three very recent examples are former Huffman star Marcel Dareus, ex-Gadsden City receiver Kendall Kelly, and rising Vigor senior Marvin Shinn.

FNL will be looking at many of the teams with players who might one day be playing for Alabama.

This year, there's another ambitious schedule, and the stadium burger/local eatery reviews will continue right here on Here's a look at this year's lineup:

Thursday, Aug. 26, Walker @ Northridge: The Tuscaloosa debut of Tide commit/LB Vinnie Sunseri in what will be an emotional night at Northridge.

Friday Aug. 27, Bob Jones @ N. Gwinnett (GA): Two probable future Iron Bowl opponents face off (Tide target/LB Reggie Ragland vs AU pledge/ATH C.J. Uzomah).

Friday, Sept. 3, Prattville @ Stanhope Elmore: Two of the state's fastest prep players, PHS QB/ATH Justin Thomas and SEHS ATH/WR Pat Milliner.

Friday, Sept . 10, R.E. Lee @ Prattville: The home team features two linemen with Tide offers (Justin Shanks

Friday, Sept. 17, McAdory @ Hueytown: Two of the states top 2012 kids, McAdory S Marcus Turner and Hueytown QB Jameis Winston face off.

Friday, Sept. 24, Gadsden City @ Hoover: Titans WR Darryl Collins, who FNL told you about first two years ago, is a Tide pledge. Will he still be?

Friday, Oct. 1, Woodlawn @ Pleasant Grove: Woodlawn features junior sleeper Casanova McKinzy.

Friday, Oct. 8, Oxford @ Hewitt-Trussville: Oxford features a trio of top juniors in LB Kwon Alexander, OL Michael Flint, and DB Trae Elston.

Friday, Oct. 15, Minor @ Bessemer City: Can probable future Tide DB Christion Jones of Minor cover the Purple Tigers' SEC receiver prospect Jervohnte Riles?

Friday, Oct. 22, Carver (Mtgy) @ Benjamin Russell: Two of the state's best young signal-callers meet up in Carver's Jeremy Johnson (a sophomore who Andrew Bone told you about first), and freshman Bryant Horn of BRHS, who FNL will tell you about first.

After a bye week Oct. 29, FNL will start playoff coverage the following week. Stay tuned to for another fun season of reporting on known prospects and uncovering some new ones, too.
