A mid-year enrollee, Jermaine McDaniel comes from a championship culture at Dillion High School, where he was a part of three state championship teams. McDaniel is a high-energy, upfield rush specialist who had over 100 tackles, 11 sacks , caused three fumbles and recovered another as a senior. As a result, McDaniel was heavily decorated, after being named HSSR-SCHSL Statewide All-State, Palmetto Champions 3-A Lower State Lineman of the Year, All-Pee Dee Area first-team, and he played in the Carolinas Shrine Bowl.
Over his four-year varsity career, McDaniel and Dillon won 55 games.
McDaniel is a supreme pass rusher due to his quick burst and repertoire of moves at the line. McDaniel will have limited participation in spring practice as he rehabs from recent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum. Once he’s fully recovered, he will benefit from a season in Mike Sirgnano’s strength and conditioning program. McDaniel will be especially effective in third-down and long pass-rush situations with App State’s nickel/dime looks.

JERMAINE McDANIEL HIGHLIGHTS
KEY MOMENT: At 0:24, McDaniel takes on a sizeable offensive tackles, who also holds Jermaine, sheds the block to come inside and make the tackle. Solid FTC after the play!.
APP STATE MANIA ANALYSIS
McDaniel is just constant motion, whether he finds an open lane or is engaged with a blocker he’s moving and using his hands to makes plays. He’s got one speed and that Mach II at all times. One of his best attributes is pursuit, where he’s not only relentless but fast. Will rehab this spring from the shoulder procedure and come back full tilt in August.
