Gage Blackston can on-board with App State during signing week, among interest from some familiar opponents in Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Southern Mississippi. Blackston played at highly-successful Benedictine Military, where he was a part of two state championship teams, and also was heavily honored by both Georgia Sportswriters and Atlanta Journal Constitution as All-State and was a two-time Savannah All-Area selection.
Blackston led Benedictine in pancake blocks for the past two season, in keeping with his brawler’s mentality.
Blackston is another blue-collar, to-the-whistle offensive lineman with exceptional upside. He projects to an inside guard position on either side of the line, after playing tackle at Benedictine. Along with his power and grit, Blackston has the footwork and athleticism to pull and head lateral running plays. Blackston is going to be a Shawn Clark kind of blocker.

GAGE BLACKSTON HIGHLIGHTS
KEY MOMENT: At 0:30, you can catch Blackston pulling from left to right across the line, leading the runner, and, of course, pancaking an opponent.
APP STATE MANIA ANALYSIS
Blackston will be great working inside where the space is tight and he can quickly get his hands on defenders. He’s actually very athletic and has disciplined footwork, so he will be useful in pulling but also has great straight-ahead push. Your prototypical brawling guard type with a particularly nasty disposition on the field.
