Steven Jones terrorized opponents from both sides of the ball and on special teams. Jones had 35 tackles, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery defensively, and returned two of the interceptions (40.7 average return per interception) and the fumble recovery for touchdowns. Offensively, Jones caught 11 balls for 382 yards (34.7 per reception) and five touchdowns. He was also featured in the return game, and finished with 733 all-purpose yards and nine total touchdowns.
Jones played all four seasons for Richmond High School’s varsity team, including North Carolina 4-A playoff appearances during each season.
Jones is a player who can impact every phase of the game, and likely will defensively and on special teams at App State. In addition to his speed and athleticism, Jones plays very tough for his size and doesn’t shy away from contact. He also adds size and length at corner for the Mountaineers which has been a recent trend.

STEVEN JONES HIGHLIGHTS
KEY MOMENT: There’s a lot of him coming down in run support, but at 1:00 he crashes the edge, takes on a blocker, and then generates the TFL.
APP STATE MANIA ANALYSIS
Jones is actually a very physical corner, plays with almost a strong safety’s mentality. He can cover and get into passing lanes, but he also gets downhill and with some pop. He has the look of a guy that will relentlessly attack whatever task he’s given, and absolutely looks the part of a special teams coverage demon.
