TIM FRIZZELL

LB, 6’2”, 225, Hardin Valley Academy (Knoxville, TN)

Tim Frizzell was a late addition at linebacker but belies his signing-day commitment status. At 6’2”, 225 and with multiple reported 4.5-4.6 40 times, Frizzell has the look of a steal. He collected 101 tackles (10.1 per game), six tackles for loss, three sacks, two caused fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception in helping Hardin Valley make their deepest run ever in the Tennessee State Championships.

Frizzell earned All-Region 1 6-A honors for the second consecutive season and was named TNhighschoolfootball.com 6-A All-State.

Frizzell is truly fast, not just conveniently-timed fast, as he runs the anchor leg of the school’s 4x100M relay team. He’s also a member of the wrestling team. Frizzell brings athleticism and mobility to the defense, including the ability to stay on the field on passing downs and nickel packages. Frizzell fits the mold of current LB Anthony Flory as a late lightning strike.

RECRUITING COORDINATOR & COACH SCOT SLOAN ANALYSIS

TIM FRIZZELL HIGHLIGHTS

KEY MOMENT: At 0:36, watch him split the difference between the quarterback as a running threat and the running back he’s covering just behind him. Plays it perfectly, allowing no escape route..

APP STATE MANIA ANALYSIS

Frizzell is a striker, who brings great power when he tackles. Even more impressive is his mobility and technique in coverage, where he looks like a natural cover backer. He probably projects inside for Appalachian, but could easily play outside on either field or boundary sides. And, with a frame that’s already pretty close to college-ready a year in the strength and conditioning program is going to push him from impressive to monstrous.
