Watson injured, yet Devils cruised to a win

After the lady Sun Devils sweep two wins hosting ASU classic last week, they come back to take on Colorado State(5-3). Arizona State(5-2) stared off with a 7-0 run. Brandon Kimberly ended the half with 7 total points. The lady devils held the Rams to only 2 offensive rebounds in the first half.

Coach Charli Thorne noted that tonight was a "good team win, they did a great job offensively".

Leading 36-21 into the 2nd quarter Simon and Brandon began the half very strong. The Maroon and Gold held the Rams to a 7-0 run to lead (43-24). Tenaya Wastson, starting for ASU tonight, did not play at all in the second half due to an injury. Last week being named Classic All-Tournament Team averaging 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 6.5 steals she scored 0 points tonight.

Coach Thorne said that Tenaya, "injured her hip pointer after a play in the 1st quarter. She felt funny and struggled to walk off the court". Coach Thorne knows that she is "a huge asset to the team". She agreed that "the bench really stepped it up. Almost everyone scored, this team has great balance".

Tonight was a season high field goal percentage for the Lady Devils shooting 52 percent shooting in the second quarter. Coach Thorne commented that "our zone is improving; we do not have a person on our team that cannot score the basketball. It's nice to see it spread around."

Kim Mestdagh and Sam Martin each scored close to 20 points each tonight for Colorado State. Janae Fulcher scoring 10 points tonight for the Devils says "the point was to deny them the ball", it would of been better to key on the two players that scored the most". "But we found the open person tonight and hit the shots."

Becca Tobin after sitting out last week due to an ankle injury played hard and scored 6 points tonight. Coach Thorne says that "Becca barley practice all week due to her ankle injury. Becca gives the team poise and presents and played great defense tonight". With Tobin injury she still managed to help the Sun Devils tonight.

Olivia Major scored big for the Sun Devils in the second half. Coach Turner-Throrne was excited to say that "she is getting more comfortable, she is a good learner and a great competitor.

ASU picks up another win tonight against Colorado State (72-56). With a couple days off for the Sun Devils the next game is at South Dakota State on December 16.
