Stretz resigns, accepts Tampa Bay Job

Arizona State defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Grady Stretz is leaving his position in Tempe to assume a similar position with the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This personnel move will not only have implications on the new defensive line coach hired but also on ASU's recruiting territories.

"Grady had an opportunity to go into the National Football league. He thought about it and this was the right decision for him," said Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson. "He has done a lot of great things here coaching with me and developing players on the defensive line. He has worked hard here and he loves Arizona State.

"I have nothing but good things to say about Grady. We will miss him and we just have to get busy now and find someone for his job."

Aside from finding a new coach for the defense's front four, Erickson will also decide which of the coaches among his staff will assume the recruiting coordinator duties that Stretz has vacated, as well assign one of his existing assistants to be the primary in-state recruiter.

"I think that the recruiting coordinator is more of an organizational job," Erickson said. "It's (the decision) more about of the individual coaches' recruiting areas that I have to look at."
