Brandon leads team to win

Coming off of a great team victory the Arizona State Sun Devils (15-8, 7-6 Pac10) looked to continue that type of play against the underrated Washington State Cougars (8-18, 6-8 Pac10). In a game that was an extremely tight contest ASU once again seemed to pull a narrow victory and prevailed 55-47.

The first half was a very low scoring for the Devils. ASU committed a lot of fouls, and could not generate any fast tempo or score with consistency. Senior Dymond Simon had an off night and struggled all day on offense, but still made an effect on the defensive side of the court.

Compensating for their scoring shortcomings the Lady Sun Devils kept the game within reach by playing solid defense. After one of their lowest scoring halves, the Devils went into the locker room trailing 23-18.

The second half was a different story for Coach Charlie Tuner Thorne's squad. Kimberly Brandon stepped up her performance and ended the game with a double-double posting 21 total points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. With Brandon's help the Sun Devils won the rebound battle and converted 81% of their free throw attempts which helped them get the edge on the Cougars late in the game. Although only shooting a team low of 27% from the field.

Up next for the Devils is a home game against USC. Tip-off is scheduled Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena at 6pm, as ASU will be looking to keep their winning streak alive.
