Brandon Shoots Down the Ducks

The Arizona State Sun Devils (18-9, 10-7 Pac-10) traveled to Eugene Thursday night, Oregon to face the Oregon Ducks (13-13, 4-13 Pac-10). Last time these two teams met, the Lady Devils came away with a victory and tonight they completed the sweep as they win 75-66.

The Lady Sun Devils started off the game extremely well. One of their better starts all year, the team had a steady lead for the entire first half. The offense was at its best scoring effectively shooting high percentage shots, and using its size advantage over the Ducks to control the game.

Kimberly Brandon and Dymond Simon were the standouts of the half and along with great team defense, the visitors were able to generate some solid offense and lead at the half 37-26.

The second half didn't start out as planned for ASU, as they allowed the Ducks to get back in the game much in part to a porous defense. With 8:30 left in the game the Ducks tied it up 54-54 threatening to take the lead for the first time in the contest. Luckily for the Devils the team's top three scorers Dymond Simon, Kimberly Brandon and Becca Tobin all had double digit offensive days. Leading the team with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals Kimberly Brandon was out right the player of the game. Contributing to the team all over the court, she made plays when she had the ball, as well as playing solid defense. Simon had another big day with 17 points and Tobin added 15 points.

In their final regular season game the Lady Sun Devils play will visit the Oregon State Beavers Saturday, March 5th at 2:00pm P.T.
