Pickens enjoys ASU visit

Scout.com caught up with 2014 Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle shooting guard Dorian Pickens after his recent visit to Arizona State.

2014 Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle shooting guard Dorian Pickens was one of the many prospects in attendance at Sun Devil Stadium on Friday night to watch Arizona State defeat Missouri in a thrilling, nationally televised game that was sent into overtime.

"It was really good," the sophomore said of the visit. "It was a great game and I got to talk to the coaches; I hadn't talked to them in a while, so it was fun."

"I would definitely say the highlight of the trip was spending time with the coaches, getting to know them better, and getting to see the school."

Pickens says that Scott Pera is the ASU coach he's had the most contact with.

There are two things in particular that stick out to Pickens about Arizona State.

"It's close to family and friends, and they have a good educational program which I like," he told Scout.com.

"I'm open to other options, but location is definitely a factor in deciding where I'll go."

What else will Pickens be looking for in a school?

"Education first," he reveals. "I want a school that has a good family feel that welcomes me and that has a good tempo program with coaches who will help me better my game to the next level."

In addition to his offer from ASU, Pickens reports interest from Boston College, Arizona California, Indiana, North Carolina, Oregon State, USC, and other schools in the Pac-12.
