ASU took an early lead in the first inning off of Dustin Pedroia's fourth home run of the year. Washington tied the game up in their half of the first inning, but ASU added five runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. Andre Ethier started the rally by reaching base on an error, which scored Tuffy Gosewisch. After adding another run in the fourth inning, Ethier reached base on another error, this time scoring Jeff Larish. In the seventh inning, Travis Buck, Tuffy Gosewisch, and Pedroia all crossed the plate to give the Devils an 11-3 lead.
Starter Ben Thurmond only lasted two innings, giving up two runs off of four hits. Robbie McClellan earned the win and improved to 7-0 on the season. Brett Bordes came in and pitched two innings of scoreless ball.
