June Jones' candidacy losing traction

While Saturday's meeting between Arizona State and SMU head coach, June Jones, in Dallas was a very positive affair, it does appear now that due to strong opposition by prominent ASU's boosters that Jones is no longer a front runner to the Sun Devils' head coaching vacancy.

According a tweet by Arizona State's sideline reporter, 620AM's Doug Franz, the outpouring of resistance to Jones' candidacy by ASU's boosters and fans, has now caused the Sun Devils to cease pursuing the Mustangs' skipper.

We believe that at the very least that currently Jones isn't a viable candidate as he was believed to be on Saturday following his meeting with ASU Athletic Department officials and school president Dr. Michael Crow.

As Devils Digest reported first on Sunday afternoon, Southern Mississippi head coach Larry Fedora, Baylor head coach Art Briles and Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin will now all garner a closer look from ASU before any decision would be made on Jones.

Devils Digest will continue to track this developing story and provide updates as they become available.
