Starter Beau Vaughan pitched a solid game, lasting 6 2/3 innings, allowing four hits. After Vaughan walked two straight Aggies in the seventh, Robbie McClellan came in relief and bailed the Devils out of any rally attempt. Bryce Kartler and Ryan Schroyer combined to pitch the eighth inning, and Carlos Arguello hurled the ninth inning.
ASU struck first blood in the second inning when Travis Buck scored off of a Dennis Wyrick hit to right field that was dropped on a diving play by RF Brandon Shaw. In the seventh inning, Andre Ethier singled on a blooper to left field, which allowed Nick Walsh and Tuffy Gosewisch to score to give ASU a 3-0 lead. In the ninth inning, the game was put away with a 12 run, 18 at-bat inning, which saw Shaw come in the game and pitch. After Ethier was intentionally walked to load the bases, Jeremy West made the Aggies pay, with a single that started the ASU rally. West went three for five and was joined by Dustin Pedroia as the only Devils to record a multi-hit game. Pedroia went two for six with a double, his 34th on the year. West extended his hitting streak to 20 games while Ethier extended his to 19 games.
