Devils dominated in Colorado

The Sun Devils have been able to overcome adversity a couple of times this season, but Thursday night in Boulder playing without injured leading scorer, Trent Lockett, proved to be too high of a hurdle as they fell to the Buffaloes 69-54.

The writing was on the wall very early for Arizona State (6-12, 2-4 Pac-12) as they struggled offensively and trailed Colorado (12-6, 4-2) 14-3 at the 12:01 mark of the first half. The Sun Devils committed eight turnovers in the first 20 minutes and shot just 33 percent from the field and trailed at halftime 31-15.

The second stanza wasn't much kinder for the visitors. With 9:47 left in the contest ASU was behind 49-30, and some four and half minutes later the hosts had a comfortable 65-43 lead. A trio of baskets in the last minute and a half by ASU beyond the arc was able to make the final score slightly more respectable.

Chris Colvin, who replaced Lockett in the starting lineup scored an ASU career-high of 15 points to pace the Sun Devils. Carrick Felix scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half and was tied with Jordan Bachynski for a team-high five rebounds. Jonathan Gilling was 4-7 from three point range and added 12 points. Colorado controlled the boards 28-21 and was led by Andre Roberson's 12 points.

ASU travels to Salt Lake City to meet Utah with tip-off scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 pm.
