Martin down to two schools, deciding Monday

His Arizona Western fellow linebacker, Chris Young, committed to Arizona State during his official visit. Steffon Martin also enjoyed his trip to Tempe but will wait 24 hours before making his decision.

"The visit went really well," said Martin. "It was fun touring the campus and hanging out with the players. I really liked everything about it and got a good vibe. All the players I met were down to earth and really cool people too. They are all about wining there and I liked that."

The 6-2 245 Steffon Martin collected 108 total tackles, 17 of those stops for loss in his sophomore year. These feats earned Martin All-ACCAC first-team honors. The linebacker reported a 40-yard dash time of 4.54

"The coaches said that I could be a good middle linebacker in their system," Martin said like my physicality and speed. I try to model my game after Patrick Willis."

Martin prepped at Pike High School in Indianapolis. He committed to Purdue last summer and decommitted from the Boilmakers last month. He has taken visits to Oregon State, Indiana, Ohio State, and Arkansas. He now has the Hoosiers as the other school on his short list along with the Sun Devils.

"I'm going to decide on Monday between Indiana and Arizona State," Martin declared. "I like Indiana because it's close to home, they have been recruiting me hard from day one and I really like the coaches there.

"It doesn't matter to me where I play. I just want to get a good vibe from the school and go to a school that has a major – communication and broadcasting."
