ASU Picks Up Second Commit

Tomorrow the Sun Devil coaches will be hearing some good news from two Los Angeles area players. As earlier reported on PacWestFootball.com Jeremy Payton will be verbaling tomorrow to ASU, and WR Nate Kimbrough will follow suit. DevilsDigest talked to one of the newest Sun Devil commits.

The 6-3 175 Kimbrough did confirm that he will call the ASU coaches with his verbal commitment. "I know other schools like Colorado, USC, and Wisconsin will still be calling, but my commitment is solid." Kimbrough and Payton came to Tempe on an unofficial visit two weeks ago, and obviously fell in love with everything they saw. "We loved the facilities. I need to get stronger and that weight room is the place to do it. I loved the academics, and all the tutoring help they give you there. I loved (Receivers) Coach Jackson and all the other coaches."

The wide receiver told us he had 45 catches for 930 yards and eight TD's during his junior year. He also added three scores via kickoff returns. He lists his energy as his biggest strength. "I never get tired in a game. I always go hard." While he does admit he needs to bulk up, he loves deceiving opposing cornerbacks. "I tell them don't let this skinniness fool you (smile)...I come fast off the line." The Santa Fe Springs standout was voted the MVP of the Beyond 2000 camp. That camp was designed to increase one's speed, and while Kimbrough was clocked at a respectable 4.48, he has a strong desire to get faster.

Kimbrough said that him and Payton were a "package deal", and suffice to say that the Sun Devils were the lucky recipient of this early recruiting gift.
