Daimler talks ASU pledge

An enjoyable official visit to Tempe for the Arizona State-Utah game planted a deep seed of interest for Christian Daimler, and on Thursday afternoon the Houston offensive lineman acted on those sentiments and committed to the Sun Devils.

"I had a great visit and they really made me feel like I was at home," Daimler said. "I felt like it was a good trip for me. I got along great with Coach Graham and (offensive line) Coach Connelly and I felt very welcomed there. The feeling I had at Arizona State is a feeling that I didn't have anywhere else. They really made me feel wanted.

"All the academic support they have there was also a big factor in my decision. That may have been the biggest deciding factor."

The 6-7 280-pound Christian Daimler naturally enjoyed Arizona State's 37-7 win over Utah that weekend and shared his impressions of the Sun Devil offense that night.

"I love the quick offense that they run," Daimler described. "I'm very excited to be part of that. The coaches said that they liked my athleticism and length and that I would be a good fit and this offense."

Daimler reported weight room marks of 275 lbs. benching, 375 squatting and 290 on the power clean.

Daimler had offers from Colorado, Colorado State and Washington State among others. He was drawing interest from Texas A&M, TCU and Oklahoma to name a few. The lineman said that he won't take future official visits to any of his other suitors.

It's no secret that the Sun Devils were in need for offensive linemen in their 2013 recruiting class, and the fact that Daimler was the first player at that position to commit to ASU was something that the lineman said certainly didn't go unnoticed.

"When I called Coach Connelly with the news he was so excited," Daimler described. "He told me that this is what they were waiting for that (commitment) to come out of my mouth. I was excited too."
