I asked the linebacker what he liked about that experience and he replied: "What don't you like about that visit? I got along with all the coaches and players there. Everybody I met was really cool. It felt like family and that was good being far from home. So I'm going to a school where I already know what the people are like. I was really surprised how beautiful the school was.
"I called up Coach Dan Lanning today and committed, I felt that it was a good fit for me. I feel like I can come up there and be a big impact right away and that the team really needed me. They also graduate all of their players and that was important to me. When I called up Coach Lanning he was very excited and I was excited to make my decision."
Due to an MCL strain (which required no surgery) the 6-3 230 Antonio Longino played In seven games in 2012 and recorded 56 tackles, six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He redshirted his first year at Hutchinson so he will be a three for three player at the Division I level.
"The (ASU) coaches want me to play at WILL linebacker to replace Brandon Magee," Longino remarked. "They like my power, my speed and just being a big impact on the defense. I plan to be a leader on the team."
The three-star linebacker reported offers from schools such as Arkansas, Texas A&M, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Arizona and Auburn. He mentioned two schools that were in essence on his short list along with the Sun Devils.
"I really liked Arkansas when I visited there," Longino admitted. "They were really my number one. But they had the coaching change there and all the coaches I liked left. I chose Arizona State because I liked the coaches and knew that they were going to be there.
"I was planning to visit Auburn but ended up not going there. So Arizona State was the best option for me. The coaches came and visited me and my family last week and I really enjoyed that meeting."
