"My hosts were Will Sutton and Alden Darby, and they were telling me how Coach Graham changed the program and made things happen, that if I come here I have to work hard. They said it's fun being part of this program but it's also a challenge."
The 6-1 175-pound L.J. Moore is ranked by Scout.com as the no. 24 cornerback in the 2013 class. He was one of the defensive standouts for the 11-3 Grizzlies who were the runner up in the CIF Central Div Championship game. He even played quarterback, along with defensive back, for part of his senior season.
"Moore may have the best ball skills of any corner in the West with great anticipation and instincts," said Fox Sports Next's National Recruiting Analyst Brandon Huffman. "Has the best size of any of the top corners in the region, and could even add weight and become a safety. He will knock a receivers head off, and won't hesitate to go for the big hit. Moore is also a talented basketball player and high jumper."
"The (Arizona State) coaches said that I have the skill set to be an impact player my freshman year which is major," Moore remarked. "They said that I'm good with my technique and size and that my length is good for the type of defense that they run.
"I definitely want to work on my strength, but I feel I'm very good at press technique and that I can run and jump with the taller receivers. I like that the Arizona State defense presses a lot and lets the players do what they're good at."
Moore, who also took an unofficial visit to ASU in mid-November, has officially visited Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Oregon State and Oklahoma. The corner commented that he has narrowed down his list of favorites to three schools.
"I'm down to Arizona State, Oregon State and Oklahoma," Moore said. "I definitely like Arizona State more after this visit but it's really close between all three schools. The Oregon State coaches already visited me and Oklahoma is coming tomorrow. The Arizona State coaches will be coming next week.
"I will make my decision most likely this week, but I'm not sure if I will end up waiting until signing day. I'm looking for a school that I feel comfortable at and that will offer me a chance to play early."
