Lewis eyeing September decision
“I like Arizona State a lot,” The 6-3 238-pound Jaason Lewis said. “They are recruiting me as a 3-back which I like because you are both a running back and a receiver. It’s different than other schools who want me as an H-back. They (ASU) say I can be a good fit in their offense and I think it would be a good fit too. “The coaches like how I can both run the ball and be a pure catcher, and I can be an all-around game breaker. All my strong skills are what the coaches are looking for. I feel that I’m ready with my running game. I could get better in my route running, improving my catching and my footwork.” “Lewis is a big, strong playmaker,” said Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Michael Clark. “Lewis is a versatile prospect that can hurt you as both a runner and receiver. His size and athleticism make him a matchup nightmare for defenders. Lewis has a knack for making big plays and is especially dangerous in the red zone. Overall, he needs to become more consistent. If he can do that, Lewis has the potential to be a major offensive weapon at the collegiate level.” Lewis decommitted from UCLA in May, and now has two official visits lined up to ASU on September 20th and Ole Miss on September 5th. Does he plan to take other trips prior to his decision? “Maybe Miami or just someone new that comes into the picture,” Lewis replied. “But right now those are the only two I have. I would say UCLA and LSU are in my top five and I already visited those schools. I just want to now visit the schools I haven’t been to yet. “I’m looking for a school where I will get along with the players and is family first,” Lewis said. “A place where it feels like home and I have a good relationship with the coach…you can tell when a school really wants you when they don’t just talk about football but really want to get to know you football aside. I feel that I have that with my guy, Coach Chip Long.” Lewis said that he does plan to commit on September 25th, and that the date had no special significance and that he wanted to come to resolution early in the year so he can concentrate on his senior season at Ocean Lakes.
