JC LB Durant Switches Pledges, Commits to ASU

In June Butler County Community College (Kan.) linebacker Davon Durant officially visited Tempe raved about his experience. He did ultimately commit to South Carolina, but earlier today he switched his allegiances and decided to commit to ASU.

In a previous interview the 6-2 240-pound Davon Durant shared his thoughts about his trip and the program.

“The coaching staff and the people in general gave me a very good vibe,” Durant said. “Coach Graham is a great guy. I love the scheme they run and they really have a lot of good stuff here. Awesome campus, good facilities and living is good out here.

“The way the coaches treated me was the most surprising thing. They are very honest people, and like everybody else here they are good people. I was hosted by Damarious Randall and he had nothing but good stuff to say about the team. He told me how the scheme works and how the coaches put you in position to be successful. He told me how important it is for the coaches that you graduate. It was good to hear a player say all that stuff.”

Durant said at the time that his versatility has been very appealing to the Sun Devil staff and he knows that he could fit this system very well.

“I’m a physical player who can get to the ball fast,” Durant described. “I can rush the passer and also play the run. I’m just an all-around player who makes a lot of plays and when we watched film they said I could play the SAM or the WILL in their system. They will put in me in position depending on who we are playing. They scheme very well and just find a way for you to get to the ball and make a play.”

Durant who is scheduled to graduate in December and is a two for two player.

We hope to get an interview with Durant on Wednesday.
