Offers: Arizona State, Baylor, California, Duke, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon State, TCU, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State, West Virginia
Official Visits: ASU (10/31/14)
Breakdown: A few months ago, Broadus appeared to be a “when, not if” prospect for the Sun Devils in terms of the level of confidence in his desire to attend Arizona State. However, that certainty has taken a major left turn as Broadus has entertained a few other options, most strikingly at this point the possibility of visiting UCLA over the final weekend prior to Signing Day. Though ASU remains a very strong contender for the four-star’s services, should Broadus trip to UCLA, the tide could turn dramatically in favor of the Bruins.
Hod’s Prediction: As we publish this article we still don’t know if Broadus will take an official visit to UCLA this weekend or as planned take an unofficial visit to ASU. We believe the destination of his visit will be his school of choice. If elects to take neither visit, ASU could get him.
Offers: ASU, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), TCU, Tulane, Wake Forest
Official Visits: TCU (1/16/15), ASU (1/23/15), Georgia (1/27/15), Miami (Fla.) (1/30/15)
Breakdown: A Miami (Fla.) commit since early July, though he did not formally back off his pledge to the Hurricanes, Chatman took a series of January visits to other schools. In a Scout.com interview dated Jan. 19, Chatman mentioned that ASU, Miami and TCU carry equal favor to the four-star receiver.
Hod’s Prediction: If any school could be threatening the Hurricanes hanging onto him, it would be Georgia. But ASU is seemingly out of the picture here.
Offers: Arkansas, ASU, Boise State, California, Florida State, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Purdue, Stanford, Tulsa, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Utah, Utah State, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State, Wisconsin, Wyoming
Official Visits: Notre Dame (9/5/14), USC (1/16/15), ASU (1/23/15), Utah (1/28/15), Ohio State (1/30/15)
Breakdown: The most highly-touted plausible option remaining on the Sun Devils’ board, Gustin would give Arizona State an elite level defender for the front seven, most likely at the Devil backer position – an area that showed a clear need for reloading after the departure of Carl Bradford. ASU is in contention with a few of college football’s elite programs in regional monster USC as well as the recently crowned national champion Ohio State Buckeyes and to lock up Gustin to close out the 2015 class would likely signify the most Herculean accomplishment by Todd Graham and staff for this recruiting cycle.
Hod’s Prediction: Obviously we don’t know at this point how the Ohio State visit will resonate with Gustin. I’m cautiously optimistic that ASU could win the battle versus USC. But again, now the question is how much can Ohio State be a factor here? All in all, I may be less surprised than others if Gustin will be part of ASU;’s class.
Offers: ASU, Arizona, Boise State, California, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah, Washington, Washington State
Official Visits: Utah (9/26/14), Washington (11/8/14), ASU (12/12/14), Boise State (1/16/15), California (1/23/15)
Breakdown: A major need for the Sun Devils due to his versatile ability to play either wide receiver or defensive back, Hawkins has been labeled an Arizona State lean for quite some time. Oregon nearly took a run at earnestly recruiting Hawkins, but no official visit was ever scheduled and one would have to objectively conclude that among the five schools Hawkins visits, Arizona State should hold a decided and conclusive advantage.
Hod’s Prediction: As we publish this article we don’t have Hawkins’ Top3 schools, but we fully expect ASU to be in it. Nonetheless, I still feel that Hawkins will commit to ASU.
Offers: ASU, Cincinnati, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Navy, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Washington State, Western Kentucky
Official Visits: Oklahoma (12/5/14), Indiana (12/12/14), ASU (1/16/15)
Breakdown: Though the public nature of Orr’s recruitment with the Sun Devils only ramped up relatively recently, the former Louisville commit’s connection to Arizona State skyrocketed as he recently named ASU and Ohio State as his finalists (in that order). However, no official visit has or will be taken by Orr to Ohio State, leading to the clear conclusion that the Sun Devils stand as a near shoo-in for his signature. A rare Sun Devil recruit from the state of Tennessee, though Orr has a moderate position ranking, the quality of his offer sheet exceeds that of some of ASU’s four-star prospects.
Hod’s Prediction: As we publish this article we don’t if Orr’s Ohio State visit is on a gain for this weekend. If the Buckeyes turn up the recruiting efforts it may be hard for ASU to overcome that. If that never happens, then Orr will pledge to ASU.
Offers: ASU, Boston College, California, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas A&M, UCLA, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State
Official Visits: Oklahoma (9/12/14), Michigan State (10/3/14), UCLA (10/11/14)
Breakdown: A strange recruitment it has been for Peat (insert license plate comment here), as the star defender from a school seven miles from ASU’s campus committed to UCLA in mid-October, only to downgrade his pledge to a “soft commit” status in early December. From that point, Peat gave ASU very positive reviews but never conducted an official visit to Arizona State and still technically remains a member of UCLA’s commitment class. A likely Devil backer candidate, though he is certainly a peg behind Gustin in terms of pecking order at the position, Peat would be a more than qualified consolation prize should Gustin go elsewhere and Peat decided to “Stay True”.
Hod’s Prediction: One of the hardest recruiting processes to figure out through this 2015 cycle and less than a week before NLI day I doubt the picture is much clearer. Too close to call and either outcome wouldn’t surprise me.
Offers: Arkansas, Arkansas State, ASU, Auburn, Florida, Louisiana-Lafayette, Oklahoma, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Texas
Official Visits: Arkansas (11/14/14), ASU (1/16/15), Texas (1/23/15), Auburn (1/30/15)
Breakdown: One of the newer names in terms of serious contention for ASU’s services, Reed had long been referred to as a heavy lean to his home state Arkansas Razorback but the receiver recently provided a surprise by naming ASU and Texas as his slight leaders in a Scout.com interview. Reed has an Auburn visit plotted for this final weekend before Signing Day, creating a late flurry to secure the JUCO standout’s signature.
Hod’s Prediction: ASU may have the slimmest of chances here, but will probably not win this battle against all the other schools mentioned.
Offers: ASU, Boise State, California, Fresno State, Kansas State, Maryland, Oklahoma, Purdue, Tennessee, UCLA, Washington
Official Visits: California (10/10/14), Kansas State (11/29/14), ASU (1/16/15), Fresno State (1/23/15), Purdue (1/30/15)
Breakdown: A recruit on ASU’s radar for quite some time, the true recruiting connection materialized with his mid-January visit to Tempe. A product of the same community college as Sun Devil defenders Demetrius Cherry and Eriquel Florence, Reynolds committed to Washington out of high school but did not qualify academically and the behemoth lineman could add some valuable size to the Sun Devil defense. Presumably due to a combination of talent and available eligibility, other defensive lineman left on the ASU’s board rank higher than Reynolds, but a plausible scenario exists where he becomes a key priority come Signing Day and a possible final addition to the 2015 class.
Hod’s Prediction: Unless some unexpected surprises come ASU way, and regardless of Gustin’s decision, chances are Reynolds is part of the ASU class.
Offers: ASU, Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, SMU, Texas Tech, UCLA, Washington, Washington State
Official Visits: Texas Tech (11/1/14), ASU (11/22/14), Oklahoma (12/5/14), Arizona (12/13/14), UCLA (1/30/15)
Breakdown: ASU was a highly viable finalist for Wicker as the lineman has maintained the Sun Devils and UCLA as his final two for quite some time. However, the recent commitment by Benning Potoae to Washington and not UCLA makes Wicker a top defensive line priority for the Bruins and creates an all-but-certain scenario that keeps Wicker in Southern California.
Hod’s Prediction: The breakdown here covers it perfectly. Wicker is more than likely UCLA bound.
Offers: ASU, Colorado, Fresno State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oregon State, USC, Utah
Official Visits: Utah (12/12/14), ASU (1/16/15)
Breakdown: A player that has steadily climbed the recruiting charts, Wilson is the quintessential “athlete” prospect as he was previously ranked as a wide receiver by Scout.com, now is evaluated at outside linebacker and could end up a tight end at Arizona State. Recently bumped to a four-star recruit, the only school that logically contends with ASU is USC, but the depth of the Trojans’ interest in Wilson has appeared debatable – at least compared to the validity of ASU’s interest. By most accounts, Wilson appears to be one of the most likely candidates to round out Arizona State’s recruiting class and would give the Sun Devils an option at numerous positions starting this fall.
Hod’s Prediction: One of the more sure recruits to commit to ASU on this list. If USC suddenly has a scholarship to give him, things could get interesting but as of now it’s unlikely.
