2016 priority target overview: Running back

With the emergence of freshman running back Demario Richard as a lead back along with the potential fellow freshman Kalen Ballage showed , Arizona State is moving D.J. Foster to wide receiver.

Arizona State signed running back Morie Evans along with versatile offensive back Jaason Lewis last month and added Nick Ralston as an early addition who could play in a limited fashion at running back January but the Sun Devils still need to build up the numbers at the position. We expect ASU to sign at least two running backs in 2016.

Here's our look at the running back prospects who have offers from Arizona State.

Beau Bisharat, one of the top overall prospects in the west, has reportedly said ASU is one of his leaders and is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest. He earned NFTC running back MVP honors at the camp in Oakland last year. He rushed for 1,651 yards as a junior, averaging 10.7 yards per carry and scoring 23 touchdowns. The 6-foot-2 210-pounder’s size and skillset make him an ideal fit for the Sun Devil offense.

Sean McGrew, the top-ranked running back prospect in California and the No. 2 overall running back prospect in the West, has been an uber-productive back in space playing alongside of quarterback Josh Rosen. He also is rumored to be following Rosen to UCLA. The 5-foot-8 and 175 pound prospect would fit in the role D.J. Foster has played for ASU in recent years.

Mark Thompson, is being recruited to ASU by Bo Graham. The junior college powerback prospect only claims an ASU offer at this point and told Scout.com about the offer."I think [ASU] is a great program. I feel as though I'm a good fit for them. I have the speed to play in the Pac-12. The coaches have been showing a lot of love to me, and you have to go where the love is at. I'm still undecided, though."

Tre Turner is someone who has been on ASU’s radar since his freshman year. The New Orleans based prospect is being recruited to Arizona State by Mike Norvell. He committed to Mississippi State in mid-October but decommitted in January. Notre Dame, Miami, Texas A&M are some of the other schools standing out to the 5-foot-10 185-pounder. He brings dynamic open field ability to the field and should be able to run between the tackles and make plays in the passing game.

Robert Washington is one of the most highly coveted running backs in the country. The 5-foot-10 215-pound prospect has rushed for nearly 6,000 yards in his first three high school seasons and amassing 66 touchdowns on the ground. With over 20 offers including Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC, it seems like a longshot for ASU to pull this kid out the southeast right now.

Devwah Whaley is another running back prospect with a Sun Devil offer and an impressive offer list. The Beaumont, Texas native figures to be a tough get for Arizona State with offers from all the Texas power schools in addition to schools like Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame. At 6-foot and 190 pounds with room to grow, he has an ideal mix of size and speed. He rushed 182 times for 1305 yards and 12 touchdowns for Central Senior High School last year.

Houston (Texas) C.E. King running back Trayveon Williams is rumored to a heavy TCU lean. Oklahoma recently offered and Texas and Michigan have shown interest. He is being recruited to ASU by Bo Graham. As a junior, the 5-foot-9 180-pound prospect rushed for 2,300 rushing yards and 28 scores. He ranks as the No. 24 running back prospect in the country by Scout.com
