Arizona State's linebacking corps is relatively talented but also very unsettled as far as starting roles. There's a lot of parity in the group, with close competitions in particular at the SAM and WILL positions.

At WILL, senior Antonio Longino and sophomore D.J. Calhoun are locked into a close battle and they alternated spots on the depth chart seemingly nearly every practice.

The same type of flip flopping occurred at SAM, where junior returning starter Salamo Fiso is trying to hold off athletic sophomore Christian Sam.

At SPUR, with junior Viliami Moeakiola a non-contact limited participant in the spring, sophomore Marcus Ball had a chance to solidify himself as the second team option.

Junior Carlos Mendoza is a versatile player who can line up at any of the three positions.
