Video: Karpman two minute drill (Wednesday)

How did Arizona State look in its first practice away from Tempe as it continues fall camp? We were able to watch the entire session and have this analysis.

PAYSON, Ariz. -- Arizona State practiced at Rumsey Park here Wednesday, as rain overnight in the area led to the team deciding not to conduct the session at Camp Tontozona 17 miles to the east.

SunDevilSource.com was on hand to watch the session in full, which included some explosive offensive plays from the likes of senior wide receiver Devin Lucien and sophomore running backs Demario Richard and Kalen Ballage.

But it was another running back who caught our eye more than the others, and understandably so, as true freshman Jason Lewis wore pads for the first time -- all 245 pounds of him. Lewis looked every bit the part of an elite recruit

On defense, a lingering question remains how well will the Sun Devils hold up against big play shots down the field in the passing game now that Damarious Randall has left to the NFL?

Wednesday saw some more big plays targeting the field safety position, which has seen sophomore James Johnson and Armand Perry get first-team reps.

For SunDevilSource analysis on all of this and more, please watch the accompanying video for Chris Karpman's take.
