Though there's still a good chance he ends up redshirting this season, Arizona State freshman linebacker Khaylan Thomas has impressed coaches enough to warrant some second-team reps at the outset of preseason camp.
Thomas, at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, reminds a bit of former star ASU linebacker Chris Young early in the Todd Graham-era out of the junior college level.
Like Young, Thomas is a linebacker who can play the WILL or Spur positions. So far he's worked at WILL, where he'll probably end up the third option between senior Antonio Longino and sophomore D.J. Calhoun.
Following the Camp Tontozona scrimmage, Thomas spoke with us about the process of acclimating to major college football and how he thinks it's going so far.
