That's usually a very good sign.
Sam is't going to be a starter this season because the Sun Devil linebacking corps is one of its strongest units and returns three starters. But he's starting to really flesh out his potential.
In the Tontozona scrimmage Saturday, Sam had two tackles for loss, one sack, a forced fumble, a pass break up and a goal line stop.
He also showed greater physicality and told us that improving his pad level is something he's been working on.
Most importantly though, Sam said he's playing more freely because of increased understanding of the scheme.
