Arizona State went to scout team preparations for Texas A&M on Friday, a day after the start of the fall semester at the school.
That wasn't necessarily the biggest news of the day from the program though, as sophomore walk-on running back Jacom Brimhall and sophomore walk-on long-snapper Mitchell Fraboni were put on scholarship by Sun Devil coach Todd Graham following the practice.
Graham said the honor was especially significant this year because ASU had to use one of its 25 initial counter scholarships in order to award both players with the designation.
Sophomore Manny Wilkins worked with the second-team offense during the practice and the two freshmen, Brady White and Bryce Perkins, were in scout team attire, but Graham said that competition for the No. 2 quarterback spot isn't finalized.
More broadly, Graham said there's still competition that will continue across the depth chart on both sides of the ball and there could be additional movement and changes with the redshirt and scout teams as a result.
