Chandler High school star wide receiver N'Keal Harry nearly committed to Arizona State during the summer but ultimately decided he wanted to see some other colleges on official visits to have a better frame of reference.
Harry, the No. 6 wide receiver in the West and No. 153 overall recruit nationally, was never swayed elsewhere however, and committed to the Sun Devils on Monday.
"I was close because I just love that hometown idea but people told me don't commit early, make sure you take some of your visits and see where you really want to go," Harry said. "After I took some of my visits I felt like this really is the place for me."
Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington received an official visit from Harry in recent months and he also went to USC. The draw of playing in front of family and friends was too much to overcome though in light of how Harry saw the Sun Devils progressing under ASU coach Todd Graham in recent years.
"I feel like they're doing big things and I really want to be a part of it," Harry said. "Just the fact that it's being in town is big for me."
Harry provided more perspective on his commitment in this interview we conducted with him immediately after he made his announcement.
