ASU Ironman Teofilo will be remembered for durability, selflessness

Senior right tackle Vi Teofilo will earn start No. 45 of his Arizona State career on Saturday in his final appearance at Sun Devil Stadium.

During last year's Territorial Cup, nobody played harder than offensive tackle Vi Teofilo according to offensive line coach Chris Thomsen.

One game later, Teofilo suffered a torn ACL during Arizona State's Sun Bowl victory over Duke, but stayed in the game and continued to play.

Those performances are emblems of what's enabled Teofilo to become the ironman of the Sun Devils. Just eight months after that injury, Teofilo returned to his right guard position without missing a single game due to the injury.

Teofilo will take the field one last time at Sun Devil Stadium for Saturday's Territorial Cup with 41 consecutive starts -- and 44 total -- under his belt, more than any player on the team.

More than that though, teammates and coaches will remember Teofilo for his selflessness.
