Marrero (Louisiana) Ehret High School standout Terrell Bailey recently reported receiving an Arizona State scholarship offer.
Bailey, a 6-foot-0, 175 pound cornerback, said he has serious interest in the Sun Devils, but needs to learn a lot more.
"I kind of knew they were about to offer," Bailey said. "They were talking to me on twitter already. I just want to see how it is out there. I've never really been nowhere. I don't know about their defense yet, I haven't talked with their [defensive backs] coach or anything."
Bailey's being serious about his inexperience with such things. As he finishes his junior year of high school, the New Orleans-area athlete has never been on an airplane, never left the South.
For Bailey, being recruited not only means he has an opportunity to go to college on a scholarship, it's a chance to see other parts of the country for the first time.
"It's kind of hard right now," Bailey said. "I really don't know anything about the schools or anything. I have to see how everything is. I haven't been anywhere yet. I want to visit a lot of schools out of state. I want to visit Arizona State, I want to visit Arizona. I want to visit both of them."
While there's no frame of reference, Bailey said he does know what he's looking for in a college.
"I want to find a place where I can be comfortable wherever I go. I don't want to just do anywhere," he said. "I want to be comfortable with the staff. I have to like it out there. I have to see how everything is. I can't wait to go on my official visits."
In addition to the Sun Devils, Bailey said he's ben offered a scholarship by Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Tennessee, Tulane and Virginia Tech.
Everything is going good right now," Bailey said. "I like it. It feels good, like, I worked so hard for it. I worked hard for everything I'm getting now."
