On ASU's scrimmage last Friday:
"Lots of encouraging things. I really like our physically, just how we're running the ball. I think our o-line is developing. Three quarterbacks played really well, all three of them did. Great job extending plays, taking care of the football. The quarterback position kind of exceeded where I thought we were. Man we had some really outstanding play. There was one guy who played better than anybody else but I'm not going to tell you who he is."
On former ASU safety Damarious Randall's disparaging comments about ASU last Thursday:
"I'm not going to comment on that. That's his business. Obviously he did a great job for us when he was here. I think things like that are unfortunately but I'm not going to say more than that. I don't think there was anything directed negative toward us. I think it was an unfortunate situation that didn't have to do with our program. Obviously that's not something we want to have. It probably occurred because our guys are so welcomed back. We have guys here a lot but at the same time we have to go by all the University rules."
On former ASU and NFL wide receiver Derek Hagan helping as volunteer at practice this Spring:
"It's great to have guys like that around who not only made it, but made it for a long time and had that type of longevity, arguably as good as ever played here. We tell them and tell them and tell them but then when a guy like that tell them, I think it carries a lot of weight. All of his values are in line with our values so it makes it great to have a person the caliber player, and what I like is his willingness to give back...that's been a great resource to have for our players."
On Nick Ralston's performance at running back:
"Nick's had a great spring. There's not any position on the field right now that has played any better than what our running back position has done this spring. I think every guy has gotten better."
