An adidas representative is a leading candidate for Arizona State's basketball assistant coaching vacancy according to multiple sources.
Anthony Coleman, who has worked for adidas since August of 2013, interviewed with ASU head coach Bobby Hurley and school officials earlier this month. The ASU job opened after former assistant coach Brian Merritt was fired by Hurley after just one season at the school.
Several coaches have interviewed for the position and are also legitimate candidates for the opening, according to a program source, but remain unnamed due in part to employment at other schools.
An Assistant Manager of Sports Marketing, Coleman joined adidas after spending the 2012-13 season as USC's Director of Basketball Operations.
Prior to his one year stint with the Trojans, Coleman played professionally in Europe for about seven years following a college career at Xavier and Long Beach State.
The Sun Devils may not announce a hire until later this spring, according to a program source.
Ben Wood, ASU's Special Assistant to Hurley, was in the gym for the program during last weekend's evaluation period along with Hurley and assistant coaches Levi Watkins and Rashon Burno.
