Priority Arizona State recruiting overview: Inside Linebacker

Arizona State is talented at inside linebacker but will need to add one or two more guys at the position in 2017 recruiting to keep that going into the future.

Inside linebacker is one of the deepest positions on Arizona State’s roster. Despite being set to lose a four-year starter in Salamo Fiso along with backup Carlos Mendoza after the 2016 season, the Sun Devils will return Christian Sam, D.J. Calhoun and Khaylan Thomas in 2017. Malik Lawal is a versatile linebacker who could play inside but better suited to play outside at Spur or Devil backer.
We project the Sun Devils to bring in at least one inside linebacker and maybe a second if they are able to land two quality prospects in the 2017 class, to build some depth for future.
Anthony Hines is the No. 1 ranked inside linebacker in the country according to Scout.com. He appears to be long-shot for Arizona State at this point after narrowing his list to a Top-10 of Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and UCLA.
Addison Gumbs is Scout.com’s top-ranked outside linebacker in the West. The Sun Devils did not make his Top-5 list in July. The four-star prospect has focused his attention on Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.
Five-star prospect Dylan Moses has his pick of college and while ASU offered early as many others did, it won't be in the mix at the end of the process. The Florida based recruit is Scout.com’s No. 1 ranked outside linebacker. He is considering Alabama, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Texas, UCLA and USC at this time.
Dimitri Moore is a prospect who could play WILL or Spur in Arizona State’s system. The No. 6 ranked outside linebacker in Texas plans to enroll early and has expressed an interest in visiting ASU this fall. He is also looking at Arkansas, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
Four-star prospect Isaac Slade-Matautia is the top ranked linebacker in Hawaii and the No. 3 outside linebacker in the West. He is considering Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Hawaii, Nebraska, UCF, Washington and Washington State.
Texas prospect Amaud Willis-Dalton has an impressive highlight film for a three-star prospect. He claims offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, Cal, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Purdue, among others. He totaled 38 tackles in 10 games as a junior.
