In this week's episode of the 'Sun Devil Source Premium Report,' Kerry Crowley and Chris Karpman are back to break down Arizona State's upcoming contest with the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners.
Kerry and Chris start by providing background on the Roadrunners' program, which is just six years old and played its first five seasons under former Miami head coach Larry Coker. Kerry and Chris then discuss the hiring of former LSU running backs coach Frank Martin to lead the program, how Martin can have success developing UTSA within Conference USA, and how the schemes Martin has incorporated into the program have led to philosophical shifts.
Under first-year offensive coordinator Frank Scelfo, the Roadrunners are operating a Pro Style scheme with spread concepts, while first-year defensive coordinator Pete Golding brought a base 4-2-5 look to the team that is similarly designed to ASU's defense.
Kerry and Chris dive into UTSA's personnel, including the pair of quarterbacks, Dalton Shurm, and Jared Johnson, who have both received reps this season. ASU had success using its "Sparky" formation against Texas Tech, and Kerry and Chris discuss the potential advantages ASU can gain out of the formation against an under-sized but lengthy Roadrunners team.
At the end of the episode, the SunDevilSource crew makes their predictions, offering up thoughts on how the game could play out.
