Arizona State defensive backs coach T.J. Rushing scoured the country for high-profile recruits during his first year with the Sun Devils, and his persistence struck a chord with four-star safety Evan Fields.
Fellow Oklahoma natives, Fields and Rushing developed a bond during the recruiting process that Fields said played a major role in his decision to commit to the Sun Devils on Monday. Fields chose ASU over several high-profile offers including Baylor, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oregon and UCLA among others.
Within the last 10 days, Scout awarded Fields, the No. 27 safety nationally, a fourth-star, which helped boost the Sun Devils' overall average star rating in this year's class.
