On offense, redshirt freshman running back Loren Wade carried the ball 10 times for 26 yards, while scoring a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter on a crucial 4th and goal play. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Terry Richardson started the game, catching two balls for 49 yards. Redshirt freshman Andrew Carnahan started once again at left tackle, while redshirt freshman Jason Burke handled the long snapping duties. True freshman kicker Jesse Ainsworth hit one of his two field goal attempts, which went for 25 yards and also hit both of his extra points. Additional newcomers who saw playing time were JC transfer tight end Aaron Austin and redshirt freshman Jamal Lewis.
Defensively, JC transfer linebacker Justin Burks led the newcomers with seven tackles and one sack, which went for a four-yard loss. JC transfer cornerback Chris McKenzie had six total tackles, while redshirt freshman linebacker Jordan Hill had four total tackles, with a 1/2 tackle for loss.
